Twenty two intrepid players took to the Much Wenlock green on Sunday 30th July for the Presidents Cup drawn doubles competition.

This prestigious event is one of the favourites in the club calendar and is both in honour of, and sponsored by, Club President Don Davies.

The preliminary round kicked off at 1pm and was played mainly in the dry but the rain finally made an unwanted appearance as the games were finishing. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and grand final couldn't escape the wet conditions with all players demonstrating fine abilities to overcome the soggy green. In tandem with the main competition first round losers then competed in a consolation competition sponsored by Club Vice President Vera Hodgetts.

Winners of the Presidents Cup were Sue Partridge and Peter Yates and runners up were Sue Mawditt and Tony Howells. The consolation was won by Terry Yates and Tony Partridge and the runners up were Andy Jackson and Mervyn Jarman.
