The rain didn't diminish the standard of play on the Much Wenlock green for the finals of the 2023 Handicap Cup. Over 40 players started their journey in May to try to win this coveted trophy and Sunday 16th July saw the final stages when the last 16 battled it out. Keen competition in the quarters and semi's meant that the last two standing had certainly earned their place in the final.

They say cream floats to the top and the final was no exception when two of the clubs top players overcame their handicaps to compete in a thrilling final. David Wolverson and Steve Preece demonstrated superb bowling skills to put on a worthy show for the spectators with each of them giving as good as they got.

In the end Steve managed to get his nose in front of the bookies favourite David and take the title.

Our photograph shows the two finalists with Club President Don Davies as Steve was presented with the tophy.
