The afternoon of Wednesday 14th August saw the visit to our club of the ladies of Much Wenlock Womens Institute.

After introductions by organiser Terry Yates and WI Chair Kim Leitch, over 20 local ladies took to the green to try their hand at crown green bowling, most of them for the very first time. The ladies were given a few basic bowling techniques followed by one-hour practice session.

After that who wouldn’t be ready for tea and cakes and the WI ladies were no exception.

Suitably refreshed the ladies were organised into three teams with the aim of scoring the most points over three bowling challenges. A tight contest followed which was eventually won by the “Bowling Queens” who claimed the first prize.

Our photo shows the happy group including our club members Terry, Sue, Janet and Julie who successfully helped to keep everyone entertained.
